Walnut Pie (Karidopita)

INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons
butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 cup crushed walnuts
some cinnamon powder
2 - 3 ground clove sticks
2 tablespoons brandy
4 cups flour
1 tablespoon bread crumbs
3 teaspoons baking powder For
the syrup
3 teacups sugar
3 teacups water
juice of half a lemon PREPARATION
Beat the eggs, the butter and the sugar together. Add the milk, the walnuts,
the cinnamon, the cloves, the brandy and finally the sifted flour with the baking
powder. Butter a baking pan and sprinkle with the bread crumbs Pour in
the mixture and bake in a moderate oven for approximately one hour. Boil
the water, the sugar and the lemon juice for about 5 minutes stirring constantly
and pour the syrup over the hot walnut pie. | |
